VFILES RUNWAY 7 DESIGNERS ANNOUNCED
VFILES has announced the winning designers for their seventh installation of VFILES Runway. The designers all were chosen after uploading their work on vfiles.com and include:
- Ground Zero: Hong Kong-based progressive, design-forward fashion brand founded by brothers Eli and
Philip Chu
- Rushemy Botter: Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp graduate menswear designer; winner of Oriflame award 2016
- Sanchez-Kane: Menswear line by Mexico-based Barbara Sanchez-Kane; “motivated by Mexican heritage, curated by emotional chaos.”
- Song Seoyoon: New York-based recent graduate of Parsons; “uses the power of clothing as a medium to address social issues and sustainability.”
- Alessandro Trincone: Italy-based designer whose clothes seek to introduce a new meaning to masculinity; educated at Università La Sapienza di Roma and Osaka Bunka
The designers were chosen after being reviewed by the VFILES team and this show’s panel that included:
Naomi Campbell: Fashion Goddess
Young Thug: critically-acclaimed rapper, VFILES collaborator
Pat McGrath: ”The most influential makeup artist in the world.”—Vogue
Jerry Lorenzo: Fear of God designer, VFILES collaborator
Mel Ottenberg: stylist to Rihanna, Fashion Director of 032c
These mentors will work closely with the VFILES team to consult with the designers (as well as the models, the hair and makeup team photographers, and stylists) for the show scheduled for September 7, 2016 at 8.00 p.m. at Spring Studios. All talent on the runway and backstage will be from VFILES.com.
VFILES Runway has sourced its talent for six seasons now from vfiles.com: a place where users can upload their work, share it with a global audience, collaborate with one another, and get recognized. VFILES exists to connect and empower a global youth community.
“The VFILES platform has enabled us to break down barriers and bring the global youth community together. Young designers from China, Belgium, Italy, NYC, and Mexico will create a fashion show that will be unlike anything else. We couldn’t be happier to continue disrupting the traditional fashion cycle.”—Julie Anne Quay, VFILES CEO and Founder.
Winners from previous seasons of VFILES Runway have went on to receive the industry’s highest accolades (LVMH and CFDA awards), picked up by global retailers (Selfridges, Colette, Urban Outfitters), and seen on the world’s most recognized influencers from Future and Justin Bieber to Rihanna and Beyoncé.
