Paul Francis McGugan: Photographer
I am a Semi Professional Fashion, Beauty and Editorial Photographer based in Glasgow in the UK.
Working only part-time I am selective about the opportunities I take, mainly focussed on portfolio building and shooting for publications to showcase my work.
My work has progressed significantly since I focussed on my preferred genre and is being recognised as I settle into a style in high fashion and couture.
With the help of a host of peers and creatives as part of a series of teams, we have managed numerous publications, features, covers, commercial opportunities.
This in turn has introduced me to people that are involved in or staging fashion shows and most recently inclusion at major Fashion events as part of London Fashion Week
which has allowed me access to shoot couture designs and offered introductions to numerous of the fashion industries recognised global talent with an international presence.
After approaching a number of media outlets regards potential content I travelled to London for a busy weekend capturing the collections of emerging design talent and where possible highlighting some of the creatives involved in one capacity or another.
With this in mind I requested and was granted permission to shoot at the inaugural show for the Independent London Fashion Week Designers Association or ILFWDA
in the Hilton Waldorf. This was a showcase of a number of emerging and well established designers in a lovely venue. it was my pleasure to capture this content
and to be able to network with them but with the intention to meet likeminded talent and forge lasting relationships with the all related creatives and industries
influencers and hopefully, where required, offer them some much needed media attention in return.
This is my ethos, its not the recognition or commercial opportunities that makes all the work worthwhile for me. It is the work itself and with a great team that is
the reward. Certainly, its a combination of elements that help to introduce me to bigger audiences and allows me potential opportunities to put myself out there but it is not my intention to seek out commercial work. Instead, probably unrealisiticaly, I look to forge personal relationships, as is my nature, hoping this will breed opportunities, offered because they choose to work with a friend, someone they enjoy being around and can trust as a person as much as the professional that can deliver their brief.
Once such person on the day was Agnes Szépligeti, a Hungarian fashion designer and owner of the Luxuria Couture brand, who had her introductory show at the Waldorf Hilton in London and who's images this article focuses on.
Of course I had the pleasure of capturing her designs on the catwalk but I also managed some unique images after the show as part of the social break.
This was also the opportunity to properly introduce myself to this wonderful and talented lady and find out about more about her and her brand.
Ágnes designs and creates her unique, bespoke couture dresses with the finest materials upon special request with a strong eco-conscious mindset. In her clothes she combines a provocative feminine line with classic traditions to reflect the versatility of today’s modern woman.
She has a unique family heritage with generations of craftsmanship and knowledge being passed down the generations and adopted from chilhood. This artisan-ship and passion is obvious through her stunning pieces. Nothing proves Agnes'legitimacy as a couture designer better in this competitive business, than becoming the leader of the Couture & Art team of the Hungarian fashion association NDL, where she actively supports sustainable fashion becoming part of the luxury industry.
