DESIGN AESTHETICS
“I design living sculptural forms from fabric materials.”
When fashion is skin, each day we wear our skin. Fashion is performance.
**To have the FREEDOM? To choose it?**
I come to fashion from a background in industrial design and the healing art.
Fabrics and metal are my current materials. I layer them to create a living sculpture.*
Fabric showcases skin.
What skin do you want to be in?
Metal is expressive and disguising, at the same time.
How powerful it is to put on a garment. To have the **luxury** to choose it.
Clothes are outfits of BE-ing.
It goes back to the Bible. KNOWING causes Eve and Adam to cover their nakedness.
My clothing is for men and women.
Fabric. Metal. Polarities. Yin and Yang. The healing, protective layer of a chosen garment.

WFMN: What does fashion mean to you?
Fashion is the skin we choose to be in each and every day if given a choice.
Fashion is the skin we choose to be in each and every day if given a choice.
WFMN: Do you try to keep with the trends or create your own?
I like to know about trends as they show the masses’ chosen taste, but I like to set my own trend and encourage people to create their own in order to express their own taste and creativity.
Homogeneity is boring.

WFMN: How long does it usually take you to construct a piece?
It all depends on the design’s complexity and whether it comes with accessories, like headdresses, shoes, etc. I designed all the shoes and headdresses for my first collection.
I like the completeness of an outfit from head to toes.

WFMN: Describe the general process you go through to design and realize a piece of clothing.
It could start with an idea, a story line, an inspiration or wanting to create a sculptural piece.
I then start with ideation (sketches) and prototyping. The fabrics will be chosen according to what I want as the final products, as some fabrics will be hand made by me.
I love the artisanal crafts, harking back to the meticulous hand finished details married to contemporary industrial made materials.

WFMN: What do you believe makes a quality article of clothing?
I consider the cut, the sewing, the intricate details and the artistry define the quality of the clothing.

WFMN: How do you prepare for a fashion shoot or show?
I’m a perfectionist, a terrible thing, therefore I will make sure every little detail be attended to. I keep a list in my head and suffer a little death every time I can’t find something.

WFMN: Do you prefer sketching designs or actually constructing them?

WFM: What do you like best about designing clothes?
Designing clothes is like sculpting. I like to see my designs come alive on a body.

WFMN: What do you dislike about designing clothes?
The deadline. As I feel that my creation is never quite finished to the way I want it.

WFMN: How would you define your personal style?
Bohemian…carefree, but I usually have to dress for safety more than I care to as I’m always working.

WFMN: How would you define the style your line exemplifies?
I’m targeting the movie, video and film industries, so I guess my style is a bit more outré, risqué and definitely Avant-garde.

WFMN: What are some of your fashion goals?
To create a fashion house and be a fashion-cultural icon.

WFMN: Where do you get your inspiration?
I am inspired by the flamboyant designer in Master Michelangelo, by the Un chien Andalou film maker/artist Dalí, and the drama of fashion by Alexander McQueen.
And I’m thrilled by the sensual fragility of Ms. Monroe, the charming grace of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany, the carefully crafted dressing of Prince, and last but not least, the understated elegance of male actors when they dress at their best.
But most of all I’m inspired by the beauty of nature, the ugliness of thoughts and the mundane of things.
The vibration of colors are like musical harmony to my eyes but then sometimes I get shock by its discordant,
yet the discordant is still wonderful because it makes me appreciate that I can still see and distinguish the nuances of colors, the minutia of shades.

WFMN: What other experience do you have in the fashion industry (stylist, retail, marketing, etc.)?*Define fashion?
I do makeup and hair for my models for photoshoots. I’m involving in many entrepreneurial ventures ranging from foods, herbal supplements, skin care, to medical devices and finance (fund raising), all relatable to my voracious desire in finding out how things work and how to implement them.
In the quest of looking the way I feel, I’m currently creating an anti-aging skin care line using today’s science proven ingredients combining with time tested lost recipes of yesteryears.

Networking and fund raising are necessesary in order to jumpstart your brand in the fashion industry.
Networking and fund raising are necessesary in order to jumpstart your brand in the fashion industry.
WFMN: What do you consider the important facets of the fashion industry?
Uniqueness and comfort. It’s very hard to strike a balance. No one likes to look mundane nor suffer terribly in an uncomfortable anything. That’s why I design boneless corsets.
Clothing must be about being stylish, distinctive yet comfortable; I don’t think the wearer should compromise between comfort (function) and style.

WFMN: How will you handle stress?
Ask for space, let off some steam if it’s needed, do speak up/about to those who are causing the stress, remove yourself from the situation/environment, and then let go of the situation from your mind at the end of the day.
