My name Roger Esteron better known as KORN TAYLOR.
I am 44 years old originally from Balayan Batangas Philippines and based in Milan Italy.
I have 10 siblings back home in the Philippines. Growing up was very hard because we came from a very poor family, but a family with full of love and happiness.
My father passed away when I was 13 years old and due to luck of financial support I have no choice but to stop my studies and started working at a very young age to help my mother and my siblings. Ever since my biggest dream was to work in a fashion industry, that's the reason why I went to
Calaca Foundation Fashion school in Batangas Philippines.
I am married to Veronica, she was the biggest part why I reach my goal she was coming with me to Manila to buy Barbie dolls and I started making wedding dresses to those Barbie dolls and sell it on the street and in front of the church for 50 pesos( 10 cents euro). GOD was my only shelter in those times when I was losing my hope.
At 32yo I started making a proper wedding gown and dresses to provide my family needs.
In 2009 I left Philippines and I worked in Slovakia as computer-cutter in a big company, I worked there for 6 months. In my mind it was just a stepping stone for me to be able to go to Milan to pursue my dream in designs. After 6 months of working in Slovakia I came here in Milan. The family of MIMITA CUETO was the one who helped me when I first came here. I was undocumented so I cannot find a proper job, I started selling drinks and food on the street and by the help of my fellow Filipino friends who was giving me financial support I survived.
After 2 years I started working in a tailor shop as a sewer and making a designs in a Nigerian company. I worked from 9 am till 9 pm and I was earning 20 euros a day. Until one day I decided to leave that company and I started making dresses inside a small room with my old sewing machine and 3 maniquins. My name became well know inside my Filipino community and they started ordering wedding gowns and dresses that they use in a special occasions.
In 2011 by the help of KIKAY group, an event organiser that I volunteered as a make up artist and they saw my passion as a designer, they saw my designs and they were impressed, they helped me with my first fashion show called 'BELLA' which means beautiful in English. I presented 26 models and the attendee was about 500 people from Filipino and Italian community and my first ever wedding gown creation in Milan was complemented by many and it became my specialty. And from time to time I organised many fashion shows all over Italy (Milan Fashion week). I also dressed many famous Italian and international celebrities.
You may be wondering if where is the name KORN TAYLOR came from? Actually it was originally CORN Tailor but it was changed to KORN Taylor because when I applied for my License the name Corn Tailor was not approved that's the reason I change to KORN TAYLOR.
Why Corn Tailor?
The reason behind the name was when my father passed away we didn't have money to buy rice which is our main food (Important) in the Philippines. Corn is cheaper than rice and since my mother was the only one working for all of us, my mother could only afford to buy CORN to feed us all 11 small kids. We have been eating corn for many days weeks and even months to survive.
That is why I'll never forget Corn who helped us survive from hunger.
That's how Korn Taylor was born.
