BRANDS YOU NEED TO KNOW
From aficionado to fully fledged and working makeup artist there is just something about a really well constructed make up brush that draws the eye, never mind the joy of deporting and storing your treasured make up collection.
Two brands that have been a staple of my kit and massively on the radar for a while are Brushwork cosmetics and mykitco. Both are recognised for their professional credentials and the covetous nature of their product ranges.
Let’s start with the brushwork range; Designed around the idea that every foundation has a different need in terms of brush (genius idea) they have carefully built the brushes to suit your needs, although versatile it does feel necessary rather than decadent to have more than one foundation brush. My personal favourites are the cream foundation and the liquid foundation.
The eye brushes are to die for with only the premium hair (both real and synthetic) being chosen for the range. Although not the largest range out there, it's certainly one of my top picks for anyone who loves premium brushes.
There is just something about a heritage company form South East Asia that screams quality and luxury, yet, they are still in the affordable range with a foundation brush setting you back as little as $29 (BB Cream and powder). A set of five with the multi-use face brush is a mere $85 before delivery. A bargain for something with such beauty, elegance and premium quality.
Brushworks have taken South Asia by storm and are a hit with a variety of beauty bloggers both male and female for their simple clean line of brushes that appeal to artists and consumers alike. The sleek navy blue handles and solid feel of the brushes make them feel expensive and premium to touch and to use. Rumours of a colour range are to be confirmed but the company is at an exciting stage of their development and one to watch.

Now we move mykitco; tagged “Professional makeup brushes and accessories suitable for both makeup artists and makeup lovers.” Understandable when you see the delicious range of accessories and the cute little mascot associated with the company.
Started by renowned and respected makeup artist James Malloy, mykitco has gone on to win awards and receive critical acclaim in magazines across the UK and is fast becoming a go-to in the UK market for professionals and consumers alike.
Split into two categories, the grey, which are the staples and the blue, which are more specialised and offer a range of different more luxury (but indispensable) brushes. The range is wide enough that every eventuality is covered and the much loved UK range is to be envied for its professional quality with a fun edge.
One reason mykitco really stands out though is their quirky and highly practical approach to storage. Embellished with the cute little logo/mascot, it is one of the most comprehensive and savvy storage ranges for makeup designers and enthusiasts.
From the magnetic palette to the quad pack, not forgetting my personal wish list item; the kit buddy - there is something for everyone in this range. A game changing array of products for storage that puts them at the top of the list for fun and practicality.
James Malloy has built a cult following and shows a warmth and professionalism that is both practical in his approach to the business and fun, looking to bring the joy back into makeup one brush at a time. The whole range says professional, quirky and practical and is something that every artist can appreciate.
