DARINA MAY - NEW YORK CITY
Darina was born in Cherkassy, Ukraine in 1993. Her first step in modeling she did in 2005, in a modeling agency called "Harmony"
In 2006 she became "Miss Barbie".
It was an annual contest in Cherkassy and her first contest she participated in.
In 2007 she first came to New York and signed up a contract with modeling agency "Red". That was her first experience in modeling, the "real one". She understood that modeling in Ukraine and USA are totally different and decided to become a model in America. But she was still a student in Ukraine, so she had to leave America and go back to Ukraine. Darina was traveling back and forth for a long time.
In 2009 she signed with another modeling agency "Fenton Moon". That was a wonderful time in her life, She had an amazing experience working with them. But times goes fast, and she couldn't stay any longer and again she went back to Cherkassy.
In 2010 Darina finished her school in Ukraine. She wanted to go to college there, but then she understood that she couldn't stay any longer there. New York was "calling her". In 2011 Darina came again and this time she decided to try to work by herself, as she already knew she cannot stay long.
In the summer 2011, when she was back home, she won at contest "Queen of the Prom" (it was popular TV show) and her pictures was published in a well known magazine "Oops" on the main pages.
In 2012 she tried new job opportunities as a dancer for a great TV show called "Maydans" where people from 12 different cities in Ukraine competed with each other, her city got second place.
In 2013 she tried as a lead actress in music video for "All Time Low" for song "Somewhere in Neverland" released on MTV. After that, she did another music video as a lead actress for "DeScribe" for song "Beautiful". In the summer of 2013, her picture was first published on the cover of "Vicisisute" magazine.
At this moment Darina is a contestant for "Miss Manhattan" and she is representing East Rutherford, New Jersey. She believes that beauty is not just physically but what's inside that matters. She wants to show everybody from her own experiences that dreams do come true, you just have to believe and work hard to make them happen. And as she likes to say, "Smile, do your favorite things, enjoy everyday, try new stuff, be open for new opportunities and new experience...Because we live once and we have no time for bad mood and doubts.
Don't be afraid to try. Even if you will lose, you'll know you tried your best." Darina is trying to follow it, and this contest is one of her steps that she needs to do in h er life. Victory is good, but...new experiences are even better.
