Over the years I have watched fashions come and go. Colors and shapes are dictated to us and often many follow. Leaving behind old ideas in order to create new ones, however I disagree with the idea that the shade Black can ever get old. Black was originally used only to be worn mourning until Chanel made it a fashion statement and I honestly believe that Black is always a quick simple way to always be on trend if that's your thing. Absinthe Collection 2016 makes use the flavor of licorice to demonstrate my deep love for this mysterious shade. In this collection I have accented black with the color green, which is the color of Absinthe, however fashions flavor is always important and I have attempted to focus on the flavor of sexiness, mysterious, and most importantly POWER.
Utilizing PU and PVC in order to be more sensitive to the plight of animals was another message that I would like to send to those that continue to wear my designs, looking good is wonderful, however I would like to be known for promoting new and creative ways in order to reach the same goal, so I ask myself "Do animals always have to die in order for us to look good?" My answer is NO!!! During my stay in Hawaii I connected with many seamstresses and textile manufacturers that have helped me develop more of a sensibility to nature, as well as introduced me to some of the most magnificent materials that mimic real animal skins. Will everyone stop using animals for clothing? Probably not, nevertheless if little by little we all start to use fewer animal skins in clothing and recycle more I believe that spiritually we can grow to seek more creative ways to make fashion continually new and exciting.
